CMD+ R: Use this shortcut again to view the document in actual size. Alt (options key) & CMD+ B: Use this shortcut to show the image background. Alt (options key) & CMD+ T: Use this shortcut to open up the special characters panel. It is pretty useful when you keep making mistakes and need more editing. CMD+ Z: Use this shortcut to undo changes to the document or image you are working on. Use this shortcut to go to the next page of the document you are viewing inside of Preview. Option–Down Arrow: This shortcut works on the El Capitan version of Preview. (If you don’t see the buttons, choose View > Customize Toolbar, then add them.) If your Mac has a Force Touch trackpad, you can accelerate through the previous or next pages by pressing and holding the button, then adding pressure the more firmly you press, the faster you move through the pages. Go to the previous or next page: Click the Previous button or the Next button in the Preview toolbar. Go to a specific page: Click a thumbnail, or choose Go > Go to Page. Scroll pages: Swipe up or down on the trackpad using two fingers. Show two pages side by side: Choose View > Two Pages. Show one page at a time: Choose View > Single Page. 
Show pages in a continuous scroll: Choose View > Continuous Scroll. Show a document’s table of contents (if it has one): Choose View > Table of Contents.Ĭlose the sidebar: Choose View > Hide Sidebar. Show thumbnails: Choose View > Thumbnails or View > Contact Sheet. In the Preview app on your Mac, open a PDF or image that you want to view. When you open a PDF with multiple pages, you can view thumbnails of all the pages in the sidebar.
If Go to Page shows the wrong page of a PDF. If images or PDFs aren’t the correct size. If you can’t select or copy text in a PDF. See what an image looks like on another device. Extract an image or remove a background. Highlight, underline, and strike out text.
